Get Better Gas Mileage

Lets just be truthful to ourselves, gas prices are not coming down anytime soon if ever. And let’s face it, if you don’t own your own oil rig you are probably spending more in gas than what you spend in groceries launch x431 v. Fortunately for us there are a few tricks that may seem simple and pointless but in the end can be very beneficial. Some of these so called secrets include constant freeway speeds, tire pressure, lowering RPM’s, and not racing in between lights. If you follow these simple rules you will improve your gas mileage Launch CReader VIII.

Does anyone know how to use cruise control? Driving down the freeway drives me crazy, constantly speeding up, just to slow down. Just use your cruise control and stay the same speed. By using the cruise control and maintaining speed you actually save gas and in turn save you money. Speeding up uses more gas while slowing down uses less so if you are up and down and up again you are wasting precious fuel. You use significantly less fuel by just cruising at seventy five miles per hour than you do by bouncing between seventy and eighty miles per hour. This is rule number one use your cruise controls whenever possible.

Rule number two checking and maintaining the proper pressure in your tires. I know we remember what questions were on our driving test or what we had to do to get our licenses but one of the things they try to teach us is to walk around and check for possible problems with your car. Unfortunately you can’t always tell just by looking at your tires to know that the pressure isn’t right. Sometimes you can get away with that but most of the time you will have to actually check them manually. Keep the pressure up. Even just a few PSI difference from what the tire PSI ratings are at can change your fuel economy by a few mile per gallon.

The third and final rule for today is keep your RPM’s down. This means no “meet the parents” racing in between lights. I know everyone wants to be the fastest but your wallet may want you to slow down. Whenever we rev up the engine sure enough it is using more gas. There is a reason that your car gets louder when you do that. Whenever driving down hills don’t down shift to slow your car down. Shifting down makes your engine work harder and shoots the RPM’s up which you guessed it uses your hard earned paycheck even though it helps slow you down. Same thing around town, if you can coast to a light then do that instead of going faster and using a lot of brakes to slow you down. This is a lot easier for manual transmission owners to do. You can just push in the clutch on areas with a slight decline and save some money.
